Cleveland, Ohio (May 14, 2018) -- Cannabis Business Times (CBT) was named the National Magazine of the Year by the American Society of Business Publication Editors (ASBPE) during the 2018 award period—one of three awards that the magazine and its sister publication, Cannabis Dispensary (CD), earned for work published in 2017. Both titles were honored at the ASBPE National Awards Banquet May 10 in Washington, D.C.
“This award is a true honor for our entire staff,” said Editorial Director Noelle Skodzinski, who co-founded CBT in 2014. “It’s a testament to the dedication of our team, the editorial standards we have set for the magazine and the level of education we bring to our readers.
“It also stands as another symbol of the cannabis industry’s continued advancement for a cannabis magazine to be recognized at the national level with this prestigious award. It reflects the professionalism that CBT and its readers share.
CBT and CD staffs also earned national gold awards for Best Company Profile (“Patients Over Profits,” written by Associate Editor Brian MacIver in CBT’s April 2017 issue) and Best New Publication Design (Art Director Justin Armburger and Creative Director Jim Blayney for CD’s debut issue in November 2017).
“It’s an honor to receive this award among so many other great journalists and editors,” MacIver said. “I’m thrilled to share this prize with my CBT and CD colleagues. They make me better in what I do by setting a standard of excellence that I strive to meet and bring to our readers through service-based journalism."
Cannabis Business Times caters exclusively to the cannabis cultivation market. Its sister publication, Cannabis Dispensary, launched in November 2017 and focuses solely on the retail segment of the cannabis industry.
The two publications also received several awards in the Heartland Region of ASBPE in April.
“To see such acclaim this early in the lifespan of a magazine is incredible,” Group Publisher Jim Gilbride said. “Equally important is what this award means to the evolving cannabis industry: As legalization continues to sweep across the U.S., recognition like this national award will only help validate the entire cannabis market as a viable and growing business space.”
