Justin Britt, Hawaii entrepreneur and Kauai medical marijuana dispensary licensee, is being sued in state court by a business partner for allegedly illegally drawing funds from another, separate business account.
Britt, the founder of real estate company Hawaii Life, is also the founder of Green Aloha Ltd. — the sole entity chosen to grow and sell medical marijuana on Kauai.
In an Oct. 7, 2015, complaint filed in 5th Circuit Court on Kauai, Wasabi Design Inc. business partner Winston Welborn alleges Britt stole $375,638 from the privately held marketing and advertising firm.
Katherine Caswell, Wellborn’s attorney, said Monday the transaction appears to have taken place shortly before the state’s deadline for applicants to demonstrate that they had $1.2 million in order to launch a dispensary business, approximately 90 days before the official application deadline in January.
