TACKLING CONSUMER EDUCATION
“How much of this edible should I consume?”
“Where can I smoke this?”
“What’s the legal limit?”
These are just a sampling of the questions that employees at Colorado’s retail marijuana stores address on a daily basis. And, with an average of $50 million in monthly recreational sales, there is both great demand and great opportunity for retailer employees to educate consumers on legal, safe and responsible use.
Last year between April and August, Colorado saw a 28-percent increase in retail marijuana sales. As retailers prepare for the high demand period that occurs during spring and summer months, the free "Good to Know Retailer Kit" are aimed at educating Colorado consumers at the point of sale.
WHAT’S INCLUDED IN THE GOOD TO KNOW RETAILER KIT
Each free Retailer Kit includes takeaway information cards that address frequently asked questions regarding edibles and secondhand smoke, as well as tips on appropriate legal usage of marijuana. The kits also feature a short Q&A video for retailer shop waiting rooms, as well as a 21+ window cling and a decorative tapestry for the store.
RETAILER FEEDBACK
So far, Colorado stores that use the "Good to Know Retailer Kits" indicate the materials are very useful to their customers. “We have the takeaway cards scattered all over our shop, including the waiting area, and at each register,” said Jessica Knight at Walking Raven Retail Marijuana Center. “Out-of-state residents really appreciate the Good to Know cards; it answers a lot of the questions we are asked on a daily basis.”
