It’s going to be costly for those who want to get into Woodland’s budding cannabis industry.
The City Council approved a series of fees covering manufacturing and processing, distribution, testing and out-of-town deliveries during its Tuesday night meeting.
While the measure was approved on a 5-0 vote, Councilman Angel Barajas did question whether the permit costs favored large-scale growers and would make it more difficult for local “entrepreneurs” to get involved.
The proposed fees are $46,280 annually for both manufacturing/processing permits of volatile and non-volatile facilities, $46,280 for distribution, $31,980 for a testing/lab permits, and $12,980 for out-of-town delivery permits.
The fees would be in addition to regular conditional use permit fees charged by the city for background checks, fire inspections, licensing and other costs.
