Q: Can you share a bit of your background and how you and your company got to the present day?

A: In my role as Director of Cultivation at Osage Creek Cultivation, I draw on a robust background in horticulture, construction, trade shows, logistics, and business management. These experiences significantly contribute to my daily operations.

Q: What tool or software in your cultivation space can you not live without?

The Fohse lighting system stands out as an indispensable tool in our cultivation space, proving to be a game-changer.

Q: What cultivation technique are you most interested in right now, and what are you actively studying (the most)?

A: Currently, I’m deeply engaged in the study of tissue culture, recognizing its pivotal role in preserving and resetting valuable strains. I am excited to share that we are at the initial stages of launching our tissue culture program, confident that we are heading down the right path for the future of our cultivation endeavors.

Q: How has a failure, or apparent failure, set you up for later success? Do you have a “favorite failure” of yours?

A: I firmly believe that being a skilled grower involves identifying and resolving problems. Success, for me, is overcoming challenges and continuously progressing. One significant challenge I successfully navigated was optimizing our cultivation process during a period of unexpected environmental fluctuations. Implementing strategic adjustments to lighting, temperature, and irrigation, we not only mitigated the impact on plant health but also improved overall yields. This experience reinforced my belief in the importance of adaptability and problem-solving in achieving success as a grower.

Q: What advice would you give to a smart, driven grower about to enter the legal, regulated industry? What advice should they ignore?

A: Devotion and resilience are key. Embrace the highs and lows, staying committed to your journey. Be discerning about industry information, relying only on reputable sources.

Q: How do you deal with burnout?

A: Our strategy for combating burnout involves maintaining a fresh perspective in the ever-evolving market. The excitement of navigating new genetics, processes, and products keeps our team motivated for the future.

Q: How do you motivate your employees/team?

A: We foster a fun and competitive work environment, motivating the team to excel and witness the tangible results. As part of our engaging workplace culture, we organize periodic weight competitions within our de-fan crew. The top leaf picker on competition days is rewarded with a prize. In addition, we offer bonuses tied to both yields and attendance, creating motivation and allowing the team to enjoy financial rewards for their hard work.

Q: What keeps you awake at night?

A: Nothing at all.

Q: What helps you sleep at night?

A: Cannabis of course!
