FLORENCE — Letters will be
sent to Colbert and Lauderdale individuals and businesses identified as selling
or having items containing CBD oil.
CBD oil is
a derivative of the cannabis, or marijuana, plant. Law enforcement authorities
stressed during a press conference this morning that anything produced from the
marijuana plant is illegal in Alabama, excluding exceptions under two specific
state laws.
“In the state of Alabama, it is illegal to possess CBD, sell, furnish or conspire with a distributor of CBD,” said Chief Assistant Lauderdale County District Attorney Angie Hamilton.
