Entrepreneurship runs in the Gibson family. It’s been a way of life for Fred and Kim Gibson, who have started numerous small businesses in industries ranging from construction to health care during their 42 years of marriage.
What is the biggest challenge either in launching or maintaining a cultivation operation? “Cannabis is an herb, but it can be a persnickety herb. Proper design and then oversight of the environmental and lighting equipment is much more involved than some realize. This level of operation and monitoring is expensive. Having the balance of knowledge and the financial resources right out of the gate is the biggest challenge.”
As states continue to legalize adult-use cannabis across the U.S., more are recognizing the need to boost opportunities for smaller-scale growers.
