Ohio Ballot Board meets Friday on marijuana legalization issue

The Ohio Ballot Board will meet at 2 p.m. Friday at the Statehouse to rule on a proposed constitutional amendment to legalize marijuana use for personal and medical purposes.

… The board's primary role is to decide if the amendment proposed by ResponsibleOhio should be one ballot issue or more than one issue. Husted personally opposes the proposal, but the board has limited authority to enact changes. Attorney General Mike DeWine certified the wording on the ballot petition last week.

If the board gives the green light, ResponsibleOhio backers will have about three months to collect 305,591 valid signatures of registered Ohio voters in order to qualify for the Nov. 3 ballot. The signatures must be gathered from at least 44 of 88 Ohio counties.
