Last week, a Kansas Senate committee endorsed a measure that would let doctors and physicians prescribe "non-intoxicating" medicine derived from a marijuana chemical compound.
Supporters called it a step forward for medical marijuana use in the state. But opponents, including actual marijuana advocacy groups, fear it won't do much.
An amendment took out a measure that would legalize the use of cannabis for certain medical conditions. It was replaced with Senate Bill 155, which would allow medical professionals to prescribe and dispense "non-intoxicating cannabinoid medicine." The bill does not define non-intoxicating.
