ANNAPOLIS — Apparently nobody knew that medical marijuana could be so complicated.
The Maryland General Assembly first approved the use of medical marijuana back in 2014, but refined the legislation a bit in 2015. A 15-member panel was appointed to implement the law and issue licenses for growers and dispensaries. Potential growers looked for property — three were interested in Washington County — and started putting together their license applications.
Fast-forward to 2017, and state lawmakers have filed 15 bills in this year's legislative session to reform the Maryland Medical Cannabis Commission, or the licensing procedure, or both.
