Medical-marijuana operations could put Johnstown on an economic-development high.
Citing the potential for economic development and support for local manufacturer Apeks Supercritical, Johnstown Village Council on Aug. 16 voted 6-1 to approve a resolution "declaring the village of Johnstown's desire to not prohibit or limit legal medical-marijuana operations within its limits."
Jim Lenner, the village manager and planner, said Johnstown is the first Ohio community to openly welcome legal medical-marijuana operations.
He said Johnstown is home to Apeks Supercritical, an industry leader in the fabrication of oil-extraction devices used primarily in the medical-marijuana industry.
