Three New Bills Move To Calif. State Senate

Three bills from North Coast Assemblyman Jim Wood (D-Healdsburg) that seek to regulate small cannabis grows, expand broadband infrastructure and improve doctor recruitment at North Coast hospitals are now headed to the Senate floor, according to Wood’s office.

Wood’s Cottage Farmer Bill, or AB 2516, will create a new commercial license for medical marijuana farmers with small grows. The purpose of the bill is to create a license that is more affordable and attainable than what is currently required of their larger counterparts. The license would be available to farmers with less than 2,500 square feet of outdoor cultivation and less than 500 square feet of indoor cultivation.

No such license currently exists in the state’s medical marijuana licensing program created by the Medical Marijuana Regulation and Safety Act, of which Wood was a co-author.
