Around 50 people gathered at the Adorni Center on Tuesday afternoon for the first of four meetings across the state with officials from CalCannabis, the state Department of Food and Agriculture division that oversees licensing for cannabis cultivators. The officials were in town to hear public comments on the recently release draft of permanent regulations.
The primary concerns voiced by those in attendance related to the elimination of the one-acre cap for cultivation, which small farmers contend would allow them to compete with “mega grows” and the state’s definition of light deprivation grows, which the state appears to equate with mixed light cultivation.
