"Making marijuana legal at the federal level is the smart thing to do and it’s the right thing to do," Harris tweeted today.
The bill was introduced in August 2017 in the U.S. Senate. According to the text, if passed, marijuana would be removed from the Schedule of Controlled Substances, effectively rendering it open to commerce and research under certain federal regulations. Booker went a step further and included a number of social justice funding initiatives in the legislation, as well.
