Manitoba Pushing Cannabis Education Campaign

The Crown corporation is spearheading a $250,000 campaign to help educate Manitobans on cannabis laws prior to legalization.

A new $250,000 campaign spearheaded by the Crown corporation responsible for cannabis regulation in the province has been launched to help educate Manitobans on cannabis laws prior to its legalization in October.

With six weeks before the legalization of marijuana happens Canada-wide on Oct. 17, the Liquor, Gaming & Cannabis Authority of Manitoba has rolled out Phase 1 of a two-phase educational campaign called The Can and Can’t of Cannabis, which aims to address the lack of clear information on related laws surrounding legalization, which they heard during their 2017 Manitoba Cannabis Survey and recent closed-panel testing.

“Our research shows there’s some uncertainty about the new laws and that is particularly what people can and can’t do when it comes to cannabis,” said LGCA CAO Elizabeth Stephenson.
