Canada’s Largest Medical Marijuana Grower To Export Cannabis To Germany

Canada’s largest medical marijuana producer, Tweed, will be expanding its business to Germany after its parent company, Canopy Growth, received approval from Health Canada and German authorities last week to export dried cannabis to German pharmacies.

Germany will be legalizing cannabis next year. As such, this is a groundbreaking move for the Canadian cannabis giant, Canopy Growth CEO Bruce Linton commented in a press release from the organization.

“This is a very substantial market, and it’s probably the best place to enter the European Union from,” Linton said to The Globe and Mail.

Germans can presently access legal medical cannabis through pharmacies for a variety of medical conditions, though adequate domestic production has not yet been established. Tweed initially will launch two strains in Germany, the company said in the statement, and hopes to bring further variety to market as soon as possible.
