Long Island firm to advise Wayne County company on protecting medical marijuana products

Butler Evergreen, a Wayne County company seeking a license to grow and sell medical marijuana in New York, will receive guidance from a Stony Brook-based firm on protecting its supply chain.

Scott Marshall, Butler Evergreen's chief executive officer, said Monday that Applied DNA Sciences will advise and consult the company on securing its products, especially when transporting medical marijuana to dispensaries throughout the state.

"When we mapped out our security protocols for production, distribution and dispensing, we wanted to use the absolute latest technology and innovation in the security field," Marshall said in a statement. "As it happens, one of the leaders in this industry is another New York state-based biotechnology company, and we knew we wanted to work with them."
