Las Vegas Will See First ‘Cannabis-Friendly’ Hotel Open Off-Strip

The 64-room hotel will rig the entire fourth floor with a "state-of-the-art" filtration system.

Artisan Hotel Boutique, located just off I-15 on West Sahara Avenue, a few blocks from the Strip, announced this week that it will undergo a multimillion-dollar renovation and emerge in the spring as a “cannabis-friendly” hotel named The Lexi.

Currently, hotels and casinos in Las Vegas explicitly do not allow cannabis use on-site. The tension between Nevada’s fairly mature adult-use cannabis market, the state’s strong tourism draw and the Nevada Cannabis Compliance Board’s regulatory language has pushed cannabis use into a tight corner in Las Vegas.

This tension has given way to newly licensed consumption lounges, which allow out-of-towners and locals alike a space for open cannabis use. In November 2022, the state issued 20 such licenses.

The Lexi, however, will offer yet another alternative—an actual hotel with accommodations for cannabis consumption.

The 64-room hotel will set aside the entire fourth floor for its “cannabis-friendly” designation. That floor will boast “a state-of-the-art RestorAir filtration system that employs Advanced Oxidation Cell technology,” according to developers.

"The Lexi allows the Elevations Hotels and Resorts brand to truly showcase our commitment to creating a new type of hotel concept that is defined not only by our acceptance and normalization of cannabis in the hospitality space, but also by our dedication to reclaim storied properties and transform them for the modern-day travelers," Elevations president and CEO Alex Rizk said in a public statement.
