At Hawthorne, our goal is to enable all growers to seize today’s unprecedented opportunities and build the industry of tomorrow. By merging leading brands with game-changing investments in research and development and technical services, our passionate associates partner with you to help shape the future of cultivation.
“We understand what growers need because we know how to grow indoors and out. And we’ve been helping growers for more than 40 years,” says Chris Hagedorn, General Manager, Hawthorne Gardening Company. “This is one of the most exciting, innovative and challenging industries to be a part of, and we’re committed to providing cultivators of all sizes with the equipment, materials and insight they need to succeed.”
This commitment is the driving force behind our $10 million investment in a first-of-its-kind, cannabis-dedicated R&D facility in Kelowna, B.C., Canada. The 50,000-square-foot location will house state-of-the-art testing equipment, lights, fertilizers, irrigation systems and more, enabling us to fine-tune offerings before bringing them to market.
The Hawthorne team, including biologists, soil scientists, airflow specialists and horticulturists, provides technical services aimed at helping cultivators build their business. Ranging from recommendations for purpose-built HVAC equipment and popular nutrient regimens, to custom lighting/benching layouts and water analyses, every consultation is intended to help licensed producers and commercial growers understand which products can best help them achieve scale, efficiency and quality.

We’ve also brought together horticulture’s preeminent brands Gavita, General Hydroponics, Botanicare, Can-Filter and more, to create one powerhouse resource for cultivators. Together, we’re able to lead the way to new innovations, joining forces with additional partners outside our family of brands to go even further.
Our exclusive partnership with HVAC leader Quest means we can help growers source systems built to withstand intense heat and humidity, factors many HVAC options aren’t designed to account for. Hawthorne airflow experts work with growers to provide customized product recommendations intended to achieve balanced airflow to help ward off pests and disease, enabling owners to focus on other aspects of their business.
A partnership with Spacesaver Corporation, the leading high-density mobile shelving manufacturer, aims to equip cultivators with products and custom layouts that leverage any building configuration. By optimizing their grow area and bundling durable, vertical shelving with our category-defining hardware and equipment, growers can increase yield potential while also streamlining workflows and maximizing efficiencies.
