Missouri Offers Grants for Hemp Fiber Processors

The state is working to boost hemp fiber processing capacity and address supply chain issues.

The Missouri Department of Agriculture has announced it is offering up to $200,000 grants for hemp fiber processors.

The grant was created to support the state’s hemp fiber industry, according to the department of agriculture’s website, as well as increase fiber processing capacity and address supply chain issues.

“Projects should aim to increase production capacity of processed hemp fiber,” the website says.

The maximum amount awarded will be $200,000, and a minimum 25% cash match is required.

The state legislature recently allotted $700,00 toward helping build the state’s hemp processing infrastructure.

The last day to submit an application is Oct. 22.

Progress reports and reimbursement requests are due April 1, 2022. Grant recipients must demonstrate that they’ve increased fiber processing capacity by Dec. 31, 2022.

“Expenses eligible for reimbursement are limited to equipment used for processing industrial hemp fiber and direct costs for the installation of such equipment,” according to the state’s website. The website also includes a full list of ineligible expenses.
