This week, two organizations in Illinois have announced an opportunity for companies along the hemp supply chain to earn one year of free accounting, marketing and legal services, as well as one year of licensing fees covered. Meanwhile, a bill that would have legalized cannabidiol (CBD) in products in California failed to pass, keeping those products illegal in the state.

California: AB 2028, which would have regulated products containing cannabinoids sold in California, fizzled in the state senate Aug. 31. Hemp-derived CBD is currently illegal in products sold in California, aligning the state with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA’s) position on the cannabinoid. Read more
Illinois: The Midwest Hemp Coalition (formerly the Illinois Hemp Industries Association) is partnering with Chicago NORML with the hopes of creating more opportunities for women and minorities in the Illinois hemp industry. The organizations recently announced the Illinois Hemp Grant, created to help promote small and emerging hemp-based businesses to grow and expand their products or services to diverse demographics.
