Caliva and Ben & Jerry's Join Forces to Support Clear My Record Program on 4/20

Caliva is donating 4.20 percent of the total sales on 4/20 to the non-profit Code for America in support of the Clear My Record Program.

SAN JOSE, Calif., Apr. 16, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- PRESS RELEASE -- Caliva has partnered with the iconic ice cream brand Ben & Jerry’s to give consumers a sweet reason to shop with them on the 420 holiday.

For all delivery orders on 4/19 and 4/20, Caliva customers will receive a free pint of Ben & Jerry’s Half Baked ice cream, and all customers who visit Caliva’s showroom will be treated to free Ben & Jerry’s Pint Slice ice cream novelties.

The partnership extends well beyond the product giveaway. In an effort to raise awareness and resources focusing on marijuana criminal justice reform, Caliva is donating 4.20 percent of the total sales on 4/20 to the non-profit Code for America in support of the Clear My Record Program.

Despite legalization and decriminalization, the number of arrests for marijuana possession actually increased from 2016 to 2017 to nearly 660,000. These arrests lock people out of jobs, housing loans and financial aid for education.

“What could be better to celebrate 420 than Caliva’s products and Ben & Jerry’s Half Baked ice cream?” said Dennis O'Malley, CEO of Caliva. “As part of this collaboration, Caliva is supporting the non-profit Code For America’s Clear My Record project, dedicated to giving people a second chance to get jobs and housing by clearing cannabis records.”

“Knowing that Caliva is challenging the status quo of bogarting human rights of non-violent offenders—and providing these communities a second chance—is exactly the 420 effort we want to support,” said Ben & Jerry’s Marketing Manager Justin Gural. “We want to have some fun with fans on the holiday with the delivery surprises, and supporting Clear My Record is no doubt the cherry on top."

The Caliva and Ben & Jerry’s program will run on April 19th and 20th, and last until supplies run out.
