CALGARY—The first 14 prospective cannabis store locations in Calgary got a green light from the city Monday, pending any outstanding conditions of their applications and the end of a three-week appeal period.
One of these—Smoker’s Corner in Sunnyside—is keen on getting started. The franchised store sells smoking accessories such as bubblers, vaporizers, and water pipes as part of a chain operating in Alberta, British Columbia, and Nova Scotia.
After Oct. 17, the Sunnyside location also intends to sell dried-flower cannabis and tinctures — whatever’s OK to sell when legalization rolls around.
“We’re going to be doing everything by the book,” said Lucas Klapper, one of the store’s co-owners.
