Cannabis Business Times is proud to present Ken Morrow as the Cannabis 2017 Cultivation Conference chair. Morrow, founder of Trichome Technologies, a cannabis research and development company, is bringing over three decades of cannabis industry expertise to his role in steering the direction of this inaugural event, to be held March 20-22, 2017, in Oakland, Calif.

“It means a lot to me to be involved with the legitimate transition into the legal world of cannabis production as a recognized industry,” Morrow says. “Cannabis Business Times has given me the honor of chair position for their first conference, and a column in their magazine to voice my opinion, both of which I am forever grateful, and I am honored by the opportunity.”

During his 35 years in cannabis research, Morrow has become an expert on everything from breeding to hash making, from concentrates to super-refinements. He is also the author of the book "Marijuana Horticulture Fundamentals."

He currently specializes in product formulation and consults on all cannabis-related subjects.

“Where we are today, I started doing [this] a very long time ago,” he says. In addition to being the conference chair, Morrow also is hosting a panel on extraction technologies, processes and market outlook.

“One of my clients, … producing 400 pounds per month at one point, was spending $100,000 to $140,000 per month drying, curing and trimming their cannabis,” Morrow says. “In the future you won’t do that at all, it will all be isolates. Only 10 percent to 25 percent of the product will be dried and cured.”

Morrow is an industry pioneer in many regards, but especially when it comes to extraction methods and technologies. He wrote the first article on BHO extraction in 2000, along with the first articles on dry sieving and Rick Simpson oils. He Holds multiple patents regarding extraction, isolation and application of cannabinoids and terpenoids.
