Oregon Cannabis Testing Rule Changes Go Into Effect


PORTLAND, Ore. — Edibles have been available for sale to recreational users since June, but recent testing requirements have led to a more limited supply and headaches for people in the cannabis industry, many citing overly-restrictive standards from the Oregon Health Authority.

Since early December, temporary testing requirements from the OHA have held back growers looking to stay out of black market practices, according to some in the industry.

Tweaks to these testing requirement announced Wednesday aim to change that, and ultimately ease the process for both cannabis growers and cut costs for consumers. The updates (which you can view in totality here) go into effect Friday, Dec. 15, and include slight changes to batch sizes, strain testing and other sample requirements.
