Oklahoma Group Says It Reached Signature Goal to Put Recreational Marijuana on November Ballot

It's not yet clear whether the group will meet the goal of having the necessary number of certified signatures.

Okc

OKLAHOMA CITY — The group Green the Vote announced Sunday afternoon that it has reached the required amount of petition signatures to put recreational marijuana on Oklahoma's ballot in November.

The group said it has collected 132,527 signatures for State Question 797, which would legalize recreational marijuana in the Sooner State. Green the Vote had until Aug. 8 to gather about 124,000 signatures.

Green the Vote officials said they still hope to get to 150,000 signatures. They also said they expect some of the signatures to be ruled invalid because the signature belongs to a person who is not registered to vote.

Once all of the petitions and signatures are submitted to the state, officials with the Oklahoma Secretary of State's office will count the petitions and determine if enough legal signatures have been gathered.
