California Dispensary Pulls Kushy Punch Products From Shelves

The move follows an ongoing investigation into Kushy Punch’s distribution practices in California.

Genesis Marketplace in Hollister, Calif., pulled Kushy Punch edibles from its shelves this past week after the local police department began looking into the ongoing investigation into a Kushy Punch facility in southern California. The California Bureau of Cannabis Control continues to probe the question of Kushy Punch’s alleged involvement in illicit-market product distribution.

In Hollister, police officers met with Genesis Marketplace management and cross-referenced certain edibles against what law enforcement has learned thus far in the Kushy Punch investigation.

While dispensary staff had been warning customers of the investigation, the Hollister Police Department Cannabis Safety Team found “discrepancies” between what was being sold and what had been reported on the products’ test results. Part of the BCC investigation concerns Kushy Punch’s testing results; the company is alleged to have moved failed products to a second address, where those products were the packaged and sold into the illicit market. The BCC has not yet confirmed its findings.

Genesis Marketplace management voluntarily pulled the products and returned them to the distributor, according to sanbenito.com reporting. The dispensary opened not too long ago, in early August.

“The safety and well-being of our customers and patients is our top priority,” Sal Palma, of Genesis Marketplace, told the news organization. “It is unfortunate that some companies are willing to operate outside the lines of legality, but we will continue to act as the safety net between those bad actors and our clientele.”
