South Carolina Lawmaker Proposes Bill Pushing the FDA to Research Medical Marijuana

Sen. Greg Hembree filed a bill urging the federal government to remove barriers to conduct research on the medicinal value of cannabis.

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW)- Medical marijuana will be a topic for South Carolina lawmakers when they return for the legislative session at the start of 2019.

Local Sen. Greg Hembree filed a bill to push the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to research the use of medical marijuana.

The proposed bill urges the federal government to remove barriers to conduct research on the medicinal value of cannabis. Sen. Hembree said if this passes it will send a message to the FDA.
