The Louisiana House of Representatives approved legislation May 15 that would expand the state’s medical cannabis program, according to The Center Square.

House Bill 819, sponsored by Rep. Larry Bagley (R-Stonewall), would add nine qualifying conditions to the program, as well as allow doctors to recommend medical cannabis for any condition they deem “debilitating to an individual patient,” according to the news outlet.

The House approved the bill in a 76-15 vote.

Lawmakers also voted 80-15 to approve House Bill 792, also sponsored by Bagley, which would require the Louisiana Board of Pharmacy to create a regulatory framework for the delivery of medical cannabis products in the state, The Center Square reported.

Both bills now advance to the Senate for consideration.
